Lake Reschen: ice skating, ice sailing and snowkiting
This is where it all comes together:
the wind, the ice, the view.
Due to its height of over 1,500 metres above sea level, Reschen Lake provides the ideal conditions for ice sports such as ice skating, ice sailing or snowkiting. In the winter, the water surface turns into a 40-centimetre-thick ice layer, ensuring additional safety during sporty activities on the lake. The vast surface of the lake is impressive: six kilometres long and one kilometre wide, Lake Reschen indeed provides plenty of space for ice skating, sailing and kiting. And, what is more, the ideal wind conditions and the renowned Vinschgau wind make Lake Reschen one of the prime destinations for winter sports such as snowkiting between December and March. Our ice rink does not just attract hobby skaters. By providing the largest open-air rink to the south of the Alps, the lake is also one of the sites of the annual Elfstedentocht: the eleven-cities tour is a long-distance tour skating event, challenging participants to master 200 kilometres. The traditional Hotel Traube Post is situated right at the site, allowing guests to join the adventure right from our doorstep.
